We have now been informed that basic information from patient records will be uploaded to the Summary Care Record system commencing in May 2012.

The information is a short summary containing details of medication, allergies etc and not a full medical history.

Patients were sent a letter in July providing details of how to opt out and to date (Nov 2011) 124 patients have taken up this option. You still have the opportunity to opt out if you wish, but practice advice would be to allow the upload to continue, it could save your life.

If you have already indicated to us that they wish to opt out of the Summary Care Record system we will have coded your records accordingly and it is not necessary to opt out again. However, if you have changed you mind and now wish to be included you should let us know so that your records can be ammended.
