Chris joined the practice in April 2004. Prior to this, he had spent 18 years in the merchant navy, travelling the world with BP and eventually achieving command of 270,000 DWT tankers.
On leaving the sea, he worked in the packaging industry for 12 years, as a director of a manufacturing company in Birmingham.
His next career move involved the setting up of a business consultancy, working with smaller companies in the West Midlands providing advice and support to help them to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing and increasingly competitive business environment.
This varied background has equipped him with a wide range of managerial and business skills which he now applies to the benefit of the practice and its patients.
Chris is heavily involved in commissioning under the new arrangements announced by the governement. In 2007 he was elected to the board of Godiva PBC, an organisation representing about two thirds of Coventry practices in PBC activity and is now a director and Company Secretary of Godiva CC, the successor to Godiva PBC
Until 2010 he was on the Clinical Management Board of Assura Coventry LLP, a partnership between Assura Medical and a group of forward thinking GP practices in Coventry to provide medical services. The LLP has been succesful in winning contracts in Coventry, to run the Walk in Centre and a GP Surgery, and more recently in Birmingham. However the potential for conflicts of interest with his role in Godiva led to him resigning from Assura.
Some of his key achievements within the practice have been the introduction of the new appointment system, the introduction of the phlebotomy clinic and the development of this web site!
Goals for the future include keeping Park Leys in the forefront of delivering patient care in Coventry by working with the Patient Forum to understand what our patients really want from the practice and developing services which will enable us to provide the high levels of care which our patients are entitled to expect.
Away from work, Chris enjoys walking, cooking and photography. He is married, with one son and two very demanding dogs.
